A number of 935’s received this M16 bodywork made by the late Dan McLaughlin’s American International Racing. However, our black and white picture does not do justice to this pink car (#9309900032), seen at the 1983 Daytona 24H where it was entered by Frank Rubino for himself, Pepe Romero, Doc Bundy and Dale Wittington. It qualified a strong 3rd but in the race could only manage 11th. Both of the Mazda’s also seen here failed to finish but were classified 42nd and 70th.

Starting out as a 935/79 for Momo’s Gianpiero Moretti it appears to have undergone its transformation when in the hands of 935 builder and rebuilder Jim Busby in 1980. He also drove the car and it eventually raced for Hi-Tech team into the mid-1980’s with further body modifications being carried out. AIR still exist as a division of another company and continue to produce modified Porsche bodywork.
